Ron Kingswood On the Subject of “The White Series” Nature needs not I to reproduce its offerings, or boast of its splendor, only I am needful of it. Upon considering these works, one will soon ascertain by the designation of the titles: “Fragments,” “Remains,” “Stump,” “Succession,” and “The Slaughter;” that they are mindful of what has occurred with creation past and present. The Great Cedars of Lebanon, the Towering Sitka Spruce of the West coast and the extraction regionally of lumber, have prompted these abstractions on canvas. “The White Series,” as Ronnie Cohen, a New York art critic, curator, and writer has recently dubbed them, are allegorical landscapes that have been smoldering internally with me for some time. Only recently have I been able to register and transcribe this personal conundrum with art and the landscape. |
