| Peter Bremers |
| To create his glass objects Peter Bremers primarily derives inspiration from his journeys and contacts with other cultures. A new peak in Peter Bremers' thematic development came with his memorable journey in 2001 to the most inhospitable of all continents, Antarctica [...] For Peter Bremers it was also a quest for beauty and inspiration and a dream transformed into reality: "Antarctica's beauty is to be found in its unexpected wealth of shapes and colours. Including drifting large and small clumps of ice, with their bizarre contours, and rounded egg shapes which slowly turn with the sea's movement [...] Nature has sculpted ice into marvellous images, which reflect sunlight and reveal all the colours of the rainbow thanks to their crystalline structure." Thus Peter Bremers tries to translate nature into objects which must appear natural although manmade with the help of heated glass. In this way he honours the splendour and brilliance of nature as a moment of metamorphosis of earth, water, air and fire. -"Refracting Light" (2003) |
