Inspired by experiences of detail in nature, Clare’s work has been distinguished by the use of fine glass threads to draw complex linear patterns on the surface of blown glass forms. “It is the detail I am concerned with rather than the momentous. While expressing the dynamics of growth and movement, I look for a quiet rhythm found through intense repetition and the timelessness and restfulness found in detail”.
Clare has lectured in glass studies in Australia and the USA and is currently an Adjunct Researcher at the University of South Australia.
Major public collections include: the Art Gallery of South Australia, the National Gallery of Australia, and the Art Gallery of Western Australia.
